Jil Sanchez came to RISD for her Master of Landscape Architecture immediately after completing her Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Studies at Cornell University. She decided to pursue a landscape architecture degree during an internship at Berlin-based urban design firm Machleidt GmbH. Her work at RISD seeks to widen the range of conversations landscape architects engage into moral and ethical arenas through controversial proposals and thoroughly researched cultural critique. With a thesis imagining a combined rave venue and cemetery as a starting point, she aspires to make spaces that stretch the limits of land use policy and social norms.
